Preparing for Wireless Festival 2021

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

[This blog post has been updated with information from meeting held on 5th August, with Festival Republic.]

For all businesses likely to be impacted by Wireless Festival (10-12 Sept, 2021)

This includes:

  • Takeaways

  • Licensed Trade / hospitality

  • Retail / convenience stores

  • Landlords for security issues

There will be a 1-hour online information session held on Thursday 5th August (6:30pm), hosted by the organisers Festival Republic. This is the ideal time to find our more and ask questions from the organising team and make them aware of any issues relevant to your business.

All who register will be sent a Microsoft Teams link on Wednesday 4th August.

It's the first time an event on this scale has been held in Crystal Palace for a long time and it's important that you feel informed and prepared.

This meeting has now taken place. Please scroll down for further updates.

The Wireless Festival is a sold-out event and will be held on/around the Italian Terraces in Crystal Palace Park, with access from Crystal Palace Parade and Crystal Palace and Anerley Stations. There will be some construction work in the 2-3 weeks leading up to the event.

You will need to think about: extra footfall in the area (20-40K people per day) on Wireless weekend (10-12 September 2021), risks, opportunities, road traffic, parking, potentially organising extra staff / stock to service overspill of festival goers and those travelling to/from the event and other issues like security of your premises and littering.

Above all, we encourage you to attend info meetings with Festival Republic, to find out more direct from the organisers.

Update:

The meeting has now taken place (5 August). We are waiting for Festival Republic team to circulate notes based on what was discussed. The information below may help you to make plans in the meantime. There is another business / local stakeholder meeting scheduled for 26th August, please keep a look out for details.

  • Festival Republic has committed to provide an info leaflet for local businesses near event + access points, with information about the event and prohibited items.

  • Hours of Wireless midday-10pm Fri and 11am to 10pm Sat/Sun

  • Ticket numbers capped at c.35-39k per night

  • Tickets have sold out. London-centric audience

  • There will be an emergency phone number/operations control centre for any issues/ASB outside the event + team of stewards/security positioned at key locations

  • Some temporary road closures around park

  • Bromley/Croydon Police are briefed / involved and keen to hear any concerns from businesses and local residents ahead of event (and during weekend). Contact numbers for ward police will be circulated.

  • Estimated stay-behind (non-local) crowd of 10-15% after event closing time, based on forecasts by Festival Republic

  • Biggest business opportunity is probably for takeaway food/convenience stores on main access routes, and secondly local bars.

Please contact us via info@SE19lates.com if you have any questions. We have created an email list of businesses likely to be impacted by the event, but we always welcome additions to this list and updates.

Be aware we have an out-of-office on at the moment, but we will get back to you before the next meeting on 26 August 2021.
